Poetry in nature

After a breakfast picnic at the trailhead, we hiked The Trail of the Cedars at dawn in Glacier National Park. The scent of the cedars and the rush of crystal clear water over stone filled the morning. As we followed the boardwalk headed for Avalanche Lake, we encountered beautiful haiku and paintings done by Ray Radigan. This mixing of poetry, painting, and nature created a peaceful welcome into the wonder of all the park has to offer. We also encountered a mama bear and two cubs at Avalanche Lake later that morning. All the more magical for this early juxtaposition of poetry and nature.

There are many nature trails adding poetry to their experience. What are some of your favorites?
